What
Better Father?
My
father dear, I’d like to take this opportunity
To
give you just a glimpse of what your life has meant to me;
So
grab your hat and coat, and come with me to Memory Lane—
Let’s
you and I together walk back through my life again!
In
childhood, from the ways of sin I had to be restrained,
And
in the ways of righteousness I needed to be trained.
Since,
in your strength and firmness, kindness always had a part,
My
Heavenly Father’s goodness was ingrained into my heart..
Then
came the restlessness of youth, and sadly I confess
How
prone I was to leave God’s path in selfish waywardness.
Yet,
as you showed such patience to instruct and to console,
My
Heavenly Father’s faithful love was planted in my soul.
And
then one day, in eagerness, my untried wings I spread
And
ventured out to face a vast and unknown realm ahead.
Then
through the Godly counsel that in you I’d always find,
My
Heavenly Father’s wisdom was impressed upon my mind.
Now
here we are, returning to the present tense again,
And
in my heart is just one thought: How truly blest I’ve been!
What
better father could I have than one in whom I see
A
picture clear of what my Heavenly Father is to me?
Thank
you for being such a wonderful father!
The
Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be
for ever.
The
righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
The
mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of
judgment.
The
law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
Mark
the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is
peace.
